Lighthouse Family Committment Agreements

In order to offer students an enriched curriculum, each family involved in Lighthouse Cooperative commits to the following:

1. Classroom Commitment: For every student in the program, there is a weekly volunteer commitment. Volunteer time commitments vary by teacher and grade, but may be up to three hours each week. Each Lighthouse family must arrange for an approved volunteer to fulfill this requirement, but that person does not need to be a parent or relative of the student. (Classroom volunteers must be approved Extended Support Volunteers within the Everett School District.) If you are unable to be in the classroom on your scheduled time and day, you must find an approved volunteer to fill in for you.

2. Excursions: Each family commits to participate on at least two excursions per year, per child.

3. Explorations: Each family commits to lead at least one exploration per year, per child.

4. Committees: Each family commits to participating on one classroom committee for each student in the Lighthouse program. (Committee examples include cuisine & culture, fundraising, art, and others.) Serving on the Lighthouse Board fulfills this committee requirement.

5. Community Meetings: Monthly community meetings are held during the school year that bring together the adult Lighthouse community. These meetings consist of a general portion and a classroom portion. Attendance by one parent or family representative is mandatory at both sessions of the community meetings, and attendance is taken. The community meetings are usually held in person on the third Thursday of every month at 6:30 pm. Program volunteers typically provide child care for children 3 and older. Children younger than 3 are welcome to attend with you.

6. Lighthouse Cooperative Directory: Lighthouse maintains an online directory for the exclusive use of Lighthouse-associated business. Members agree to hold this information confidential, and will not use it for non-Lighthouse purposes. By signing below, you hereby grant permission to have the following information published in the directory: Parent names, student names, student classes, home address, home phone number, and e-mail address.

7. Donations and Fundraising: The Lighthouse budget for classroom enrichment is dependent on family contributions. Though not required, Lighthouse requests a suggested donation of $25 per month, per child in the program. Lighthouse also has an annual auction in order to reach its financial goals. Each family is required to procure item(s) worth at least $50 per child in Lighthouse. Buy-outs are available for $75.00 per student.

8. Procedure for non-compliance with attendance requirements: Family participation is the heart of Lighthouse and enrollment in the program is contingent upon such. Failure to attend your classroom shift and/or failure to attend community meetings will result in non-compliance correspondence being sent to your home and may lead to your family being asked not to return the next school year.
